The slick almost sickening sound of metal cutting through flesh broke the eerie silence as he lighted upon the ground behind the orc scout. Even wearing the black and silver armor, he made sure he made little to no sound. The hunt for orcs started many centuries before... but this, this was different. These orcs drifted far to close to someone even more precious than life to him.
Elrohir did not move as the muffled thud sounded behind him. The metal of orcs made a certain sound, and he knew what their armor sounded like when they fell. And he also felt that comforting presence of his brother in the same moment. Turning his head, keen silver grey eyes met their match and he nodded once. A line creased Elladan's brow, but his twin said nothing. Elladan, for the most part, said nothing about his feelings for a particular dwarf with a very particular bloodline. A bloodline that he heard much about in their last hunt with the Dunedain. The orcs were moving.
Telling Mithrandir about it, did not put his heart at ease. No. It only made him more restless when he realized that the wizard preferred to warn Thorin above the youngers. It forced him to ask his brother one more time to step away from the Dunedain and go back.
So as he wiped the black blood from his sword, he started to move again. There would be more. And the others would find out they did not come back. That could either drive them back for the moment, or bring more. Elrohir had the sickening feeling that the latter seemed more plausible. Which was why he took off through the night moving closer to the modest place that he knew Fili and his family were staying this time.
A familiar anger flared as he found another orc moving about the perimeter of their home. An anger born of things lost to the foul creatures and the refusal to lose anything else. So when the scout tried to pull at a window shutter, he threw his sword watching it drive through the creatues head with a grotesque squelch of a sound.
"Elrohir..." Turning his head just enough to see his brother, he nodded as the elder indicated a direction and disappeared into the darkness. Better to be sure they were all gone. Perhaps no more would come. He simply had not counted on there being more involved than just orcs in this matter as he knelt down and frowned into the face of a man instead of an orc. Evil men... he had not been expecting that.
